The postponement of the Olympics delights the athletes.

Many sports stars expressed their welcome to the decision to postpone the next Olympic Games “Tokyo 2020” until next year, due to the crisis of spreading infection with the emerging coronavirus.

“No problem, we can wait,” said Kevin Mayer, world record holder for the decathlon competition.

“The decision was the right one for all players,” added Niklas Cole, world champion of the Decathlo.

“I hope that in 2021 we will be able to participate in a course we all dreamed of,” Cole said.

“In general, it is a very wise decision for the Olympics to postpone until 2021,” said Kenyan Iliode Kipchoge, world record holder of marathons.

“I look forward to going to Japan to defend my Olympic title next year. I look forward to seeing a great Olympic Games. I wish everyone good health in this challenging period.”

The Ministry of Sports bears 25 million pounds of union debts.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, decided that the Ministry should assume all debts owed by 34 federations and sporting organizations in favor of the Cairo International Stadium Authority, which amounts to a total of 25 million pounds.

Sobhi said in an official statement that this step comes to support sports and youth institutions and bodies, in light of the cessation of activity, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.

Cairo Stadium is expected to use these resources to complete the development and prepare for the new season.

During the coming period, the Minister of Sports will discuss with the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Cairo Stadium the ways of implementing the completion plan, and how to optimize the use of available resources.
